I think one of the core features of HD was the full friendly fire, HD could do that because the angle was from top-down, so you could always see everything around you, if you died to FF, or you killed your own teammate, that was your fault. If Arrowhead ever does Ask Me Anything events (Reddit or elsewhere) as they used to do many years ago for Helldivers, that's the kind of thing I'd want to ask. I guessed "When Pigs Fly." I guess they are flying! :)Īs far as gameplay mechanics, part of the beauty of Helldivers' isometric view is your situational awareness of the battlefield.Īnd the "forced" (not every liked it, I realize) "squad screen lock view" that forced co-op players to stick together and remain in the general vicinity of each other - how are they going to offer that sort of feature in a 3rd person viewpoint? If HD2 causes me as much nausea as The Division 2, then I won't be enlisting, not that Arrowhead would lose any sleep over it.Īlso bummed that Arrowhead appears to have shut down its official forums (it's no longer listed anywhere on their website), I guess as part of finally announcing HD2, they didn't want to deal with us riffraff at their official forums anymore, especially my goofy poll about when people guessed Arrowhead could finally announce its secret game. I'm still excited, but motion sickness/nausea issues with FPSs and increasingly 3rd person shooters are what pushed me into Helldivers, Synthetik, Alien Swarm et all. You didn't need a hot rod PC go play Helldivers on Steam/PC. It also probably means a much higher barrier of entry for PC players in terms of system requirements etc. It's not like Playstation 5 and Steam aren't flooded with 3rd person shooters. ![]() I considered HD the ultimate Twin Stick Shooter, and so I guess the sequel isn't really in the same gaming genre anymore? ![]() ![]() Disappointed about the switch away from isometric view.
